Medeama Sporting Club condemns out of hand an attack on AshantiGold midfielder James Akaminko during a friendly match in Tarkwa on Sunday August 19, 2018.
The action of our supporter, identified as Nicholas Assan, has brought shame to the club and tainted our enviable brand.
The action of this individual is disgusting and completely unacceptable and does not represent the values of tolerance and respect which the club embodies.
The club would like to offer an unqualified apology to Chairman of AshantiGold Football Club Dr Kwaku Frimpong and the player in question over the senseless physical attack.
The matter has been referred to the Tarkwa Police command for criminal investigation and the club will take disciplinary action against the identified supporter.
Medeama Sporting Club will not tolerate this type of uncouth behaviour, under any circumstances.
We will seek to permanently exclude from our club anyone who thinks this (uncultured) behaviour is even close to acceptable.“
