Medeama president Moses Armah insists the Premier League title race is not over but admits his side may have to win the remaining three matches to win the crown.

The Mauves and Yellows were beaten 3-0 at Berekum Chelsea on Sunday but maintained their third position on the table.

The Tarkwa-based side are now three points adrift of the Blues with three matches left to play to end the season.

Absoultely not,’ was the response of the ambitious football administrator when asked whether their title bid was over.

“There are three matches to go and anything can happen. I don’t think we’re going to give up that easily.

“Only three points separates Chelsea and us and for me this title will go to the wire.

“Although we’re down as a team, we’re not out and if we’re able to win all the remaining matces, I believe there will be light at the end of the tunnel.”

“Management have done their part and I believe the players know what to do.”

Medeama will entertain All Stars when the league returns on June 9.

Coach Evans Adotey says the 3-0 defeat to Berekum Chelsea was made even more difficult with the sending off of defender Eric Enchill.

Coach Evans Adotey says the 3-0 defeat to Berekum Chelsea was made even more difficult with the sending off of defender Eric Enchill.

Enchill was sent off early in the first half for an off-the-ball incident.

The sending off proved costly for the Yellow and Mauves as they suffered the heavy defeat to Chelsea.

But Adotey explains his efforts to get back into the game in the 3-0 defeat on Sunday were frustrated by the sending off of his defender.

“We were found chasing the game from the start and it even got even more difficult with the red card,”

“We had to rely on the counter attacks but this was made ineffective as we had to re-strategize after the sending off.

“Things just didn’t work for us the way it should.”

The massive defeat has hurt the title chances of the Tarkwa-based side as they are now three points behind leaderS Berekum Chelsea with three matches left.

Medeama will be hoping to get back to winning ways when the Premier league resumes on June 9 with a home game against Wa All Stars.

Head coach Evans Adotey is preaching caution ahead of Sunday’s visit to Berekum Chelsea.

The Mauves and Yellows travel to the Golden City Park to battle the 2011 Ghanaian Champions in what could be the most important fixture of the current campaign.

Coach Adotey and his backroom staff are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to wrestle the Premier League crown from Kotoko.

He is preaching caution while remaining optimistic over picking maximum points.

“There is nothing lost. We ‘re focused on the big and we believe we can go out there and win the game,” Adotey told medeamasc.com

“We want to consolidate our position and the only way to do that is to win that all-important game.

“The team is focused. We don’t want to put any pressure on the boys. We believe they have what it takes to deliver and we’re working towards it.

“The support from management has been superb, we can only ask for the prayers from our cherished supporters to achieve the enviable target of winning the league for Wassaman.”

Medeama boast of perhaps the best record against the Blues in the top-flight with impressive results against them over the past two seasons.

Medeama operations manager Nathaniel Tsibuah has urged the players to show serious commitment ahead of the remaining four matches in the League.

The Mauves and Yellows travel Berekum to face Chelsea in an all-important fixture at the Golden City Park on Sunday.

The two teams are squared off on the same points, making the encounter an uncompromising one.

The operations manager of the club Nathaniel Tsibuah wants the players to go the full haul in the latter stages.

“It is not easy to win the League or be crowned champions so it is up to the playing body to show commitment,” Tsibuah told medeamasc.com

“We want to win the League not only for ourselves but for the people of the Western region.

“Management have done their bit and expects the players to deliver for the fans.

“We want to win the league and the only way out is to try and win all the four matches and hope others slip somewhere.”

Medeama recorded an important goalless draw at Kotoko but are now lagging three points behind Berekum Chelsea in the race for the title.

The game at the Baba Yara stadium however was characterized by ugly scenes that marred the game with the match officials having to run for their lives.

The Mauves and Yellows put up a brilliant defensive display while catching their opponent on the counter.

Both sides failed to break down each other as they shared the spoils in a pulsating draw in Kumasi.

Medeama are still third on the table 43 points with fives games to end the season and tackle relegated Real Tamale United next on Sunday.

Winger Theophilus Anorba insists they will fight to the end despite losing 2-1 at home to Liberty Professionals.

The Mauves and Yellows were shell-shocked at home where goals from Ebenezer Assafuah and Bawa Mumuni condemned the team to their second defeat at home this term.

Anorba who joined from Ashantgold is refusing to throw in the towel insisting the road to the title is far from over.

“We know that the supporters are downhearted but they should bear in mind that all is not lost,” Anorba told medeamasc.com

“We have about six matches to go and we have to play both Kotoko and Chelsea and if we take our chances, why can’t we beat them?

“So I want us to put the defeat behind us and focus on the matches ahead since the league is ours for the taken this year.

Medeama will travel to Kumasi to face Kotoko on Wednesday.

Medeama were knocked off the summit of the Ghana Premier League table after a shock 2-1 home defeat to Liberty Professionals.

The Mauves and Yellows have missed a glorious chance to perhaps win their first Premier League game after weeks of occupying the topmost position.

Liberty shot into the lead through striker Ebenezer Assafuah who connected beautifully from an in-swinger to put the visitors in front in the 24 minutes.

Medeama who enjoyed the chunk of possession pulled level through Mohammed Tanko five minutes into the second half.

The equalizer was short-lived 13 minutes later as Mumuni Bawa stole the marchof the home side with the match-winner.

The shock defeat has seen them being leapfrogged on the table after Berekumm Chelsea managed a 0-0 draw at New Edubiase.

But the Mauves and Yellows are unperturbed and determined to fight on to win the title.

Coach Evans Adotey insists he’s not cracking under expectation with Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea breathing down their neck in the race for the Premier League crown.

The Tarkwa-based side are locked on the same points with Berekum Chelsea but a point more than defending champions Kotoko.

With seven games to end the season, coach Adotey says he’s calm and focused to deliver the title for Medeama.

“I don’t think there is pressure anywhere. We are fighting for the title and so we just have to remain focus and nothing else,” Adotey said

“We are not worried about Kotoko or Chelsea. We are worried about picking maximum points on our own and not who is chasing us.

Medeama will take on Liberty on Sunday at the Tarkwa and Aboso Park.
