Medeama steer past Chelsea, break into top-four

Ten-man Medeama moved into the top-four with a hard fought 2-1 victory over Champions Berekum Chelsea.

Captain Kwabena Edusei opened the scoring for the Mauves and Yellows from a well-measured free kick in the 15th minute at the Tarkwa and Aboso Park.

Medeama were reduced to ten-men after striker Larbi Coomson was shown a straight red card by referee Thomas Nunoo for a poor challenge on Chelsea midfielder Jordan Opoku in the 35th minute.

The second half produced lots of thrills and moment of nervousness for both Medeama as Chelsea kept the pressure on their host.

In one of such moves, Eric Agyemang capitalized on the defensive frailties of Medeama to pull level.

But the celebration was cut short after striker Louis Agyeman put the home side in the driving seat with the second goal.

He took control of a loose ball and delivered a thunderbolt from the edge of the box to send the home fans into raptures.
